Psychological counselling for
As a Counselling Psychologist, I view the problems and difficulties that each individual presents with, first and foremost as an attempt to adapt to one’s world, rather than pathological. We all strive to be happy, however the strategies we have learned to achieve happiness can be misguided and counter-productive, especially when they were learned early in life and we have not had the necessary resources to ‘update the files’. The body-mind has inherent self-correcting capacities that can be harnessed with skilful interventions in the right environment for a sort of realignment of our inner selves to occur. I use a variety of psychotherapeutic tools to create a healing space and facilitate the inherent body-mind wisdom to emerge. I provide a therapeutic environment imbued with safety, respect, acceptance and deep listening as I seek to understand and support each client in moving towards their desired outcomes. The therapeutic endeavour is always most successful when the client understands their role is one of active participation both in and between sessions.
